We dropped off Captain Neil (the check out skipper) at Trellis Bay (where we'll pick up MJ and Emily in a month) and departed on our own for North Sound on Virgin Gorda. We're REALLY glad we spent those days with Captain Neil since he showed us just how little we know about sailing! When he was done with us, we all agreed that we will probably not be a hazard to navigation in the BVI!
When we got to North Sound, we fueled the boat (and found we had used a grand total of 4.6 gallons in 3 days!) and took on water in preparation for leaving for Anegada in the morning. We found out that Sunsail runs a flotilla with a "mother hen" boat every Wednesday so we're just going to tag along to make sure we don't get lost (the next landfall after Anegada is England).
So far the fishing hasn't been good (although Jim remains optimistic). We have had a great time snorkeling on the reefs. Today we swam amongst a school of literally millions of bait fish that would part and form behind us as we swam through the schools. Very cool. We also saw some huge tarpon who were intent on eating said fish.
We may not be able to post for a few days so don't worry!
