On Friday, Pete and I went hiking along the coast to see the ocean. The Coast Guard was broadcasting hazardous conditions warnings about every hour so we wanted to see it for ourselves. The coast on the north side of Noyo Harbor is an old abandoned airfield that looks to be in the process of being dismantled.
The walk out was a bit rugged (parts of it reminded me of Lara’s and my trek up Culebrita in the Virgin Islands). Once we got out on the bluff overlooking the ocean we found a cool sinkhole that opened to the ocean. Since Pete and I are both scared of heights we didn’t get too close to the edge!
The wind was absolutely howling up there and the following video will clearly show you why we are stuck in the harbor and not willing to venture out on the ocean!
Saturday was a boat maintenance day and I was really glad to have someone helping who was younger and more flexible and who still has good knees! We got a lot accomplished and to celebrate we decided to go to the movies. [Note to self – Read movie reviews BEFORE going to see a movie.]
We went to see “Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” All I can say is that I saw my first movie (that I can remember) about 40 years ago. Since then I have certainly seen thousands of movies. This movie is the absolute worst movie I can ever remember seeing. In case that is too subtle for some of you – DON”T SEE THIS MOVIE. IT IS HORRIBLE. (After discussing this with Pete, he concurred with this assessment of the movie.)
Pete is probably going to have to leave on Monday with me still stuck in Fort Bragg. I am hoping that a weather window will open at the end of the week and allow me to get as far as Newport, OR, where I will probably store the boat until Lara and I come back on June 28th. We’ll see...
