Jim and I stumbled upon a Texas Hold 'Em poker Tournament here in Nanaimao, Canada. We just had to enter ourselves! Having NEVER entered a real tournament, we have been playing poker with buddies for 20 years. Only recently we added this famous game to our usual card games of "Pass The Crappy Card", "Two Card HiLo" etc...
The location for this competition is the Light House Pub in Nanaimo, BC (mid portion of Vancouver Island). We took our positions on separate tables and reviewed the rules - in order to avoid embarassing ourselves with our bad habits from years of social poker. Many of these folks play two or three times per week.!
Lara held a respectable position for the first two hours , and made it through the first two table combinations but met her demise (with a K, 9 suited - ALL IN) around 9pm. OF COURSE Jim has made it to the final show down table. He is the chip leader at 9:30 pm. This is just too funny.
BTW - Our waitress' name is Lara!
More tomorrow on this development.

Leave it to Jim to be a card shark during your boat trip! Very impressive that you made it 2 hours--I probably would have been out in the first 15 minutes. We're anxiously awaiting news about the outcome of the tourney....Go Jim!
